Background of the Study:
Online job platforms have revolutionized the recruitment process by connecting job seekers with employers through digital interfaces. In Etsako West Local Government, Edo State, these platforms play an increasingly important role in addressing youth unemployment by offering streamlined access to employment opportunities (Akpan, 2023). Digital job portals facilitate the exchange of information, reduce recruitment costs, and provide career guidance, thereby empowering young job seekers to navigate the competitive job market (Obasi, 2024). The proliferation of these platforms aligns with global trends toward digital transformation in human resource management, yet challenges such as digital literacy, internet accessibility, and trust issues persist among local youths. Consequently, understanding the impact of online job platforms on youth employment is essential for crafting policies that promote job creation and economic development (Ibekwe, 2023). This study investigates how these digital tools influence employment outcomes, the factors that encourage or hinder their effective use, and the potential implications for local youth empowerment in Etsako West.

Research Hypotheses:

  1. Online job platforms positively impact youth employment.

  2. Digital literacy is a significant determinant of effective platform usage.

Significance of the Study:
The study will provide crucial insights for government agencies and employment service providers to develop effective strategies that harness digital platforms for youth empowerment and sustainable employment in Etsako West Local Government (Eze, 2024).

Scope and Limitations of the Study:
The study is limited to appraising the impact of online job platforms on youth employment in Etsako West Local Government, Edo State.
